South Carolina Aquarium’s newest exhibit, BricksALIVE, features 12 life-sized animal sculptures crafted solely from Legos. The collection, which includes a bald eagle, a sea turtle, a river otter, an 8-foot dolphin and an octopus, takes up a large part of the facility’s second floor and uses more than 250,000 colorful bricks. The complex sculptures, which took more than five months to construct, represent species that call the Palmetto State home.

All of the animals were designed and constructed in-house by the Aquarium’s exhibits team using both new and used Lego bricks and plates, with over ?????? recycled Legos donated by area residents through a Lego Brick Drive held this past May and June.

“The exhibit aims to connect guests with animals and the ocean, ultimately inspiring guests to connect with and care for our environment,” the aquarium said in a statement.

Visitors can even add their own personal touches to an interactive building station, where a coral reef built of Lego bricks changes with each guest’s contribution.

BricksALIVE will be available for an undetermined time. Tickets can be purchased from the aquarium’s website or at the South Carolina Aquarium ticket window.

General admission tickets are $24.95 for adults and $17.95 for children ages 3-12. Admission is free for toddlers and members. Open daily 9am to 4pm.
