Due to tropical storm Hermine, the South Carolina Aquarium will be closed, Friday September 2, 2016 in order to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.

Despite closing to the public, the animal care team will remain on-hand day and night to ensure the safety and welfare of the animals and the water systems that support them.  Every animal housed in an indoor enclosure will remain on exhibit.  Those located in the outdoor Mountain Forest exhibit and Saltmarsh Aviary, native to South Carolina and its weather conditions, will be monitored closely.

Once the possibility of severe weather has passed, the Aquarium will return to its normal operational hours, Monday – Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
