An August 23 health inspection by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) revealed a rodent infestation problem at the Magwood Road Chick-Fil-A restaurant. Owner Al Thompson voluntarily closed the restaurant the following week to make structural repairs at the rodents’ point of entry. The overall health inspection score was 95.

“Safety and cleanliness are our utmost priorities,” Thompson said in a statement. “We voluntarily closed the restaurant August 31 for facilities maintenance, and we expect to re-open this week. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate our guests’ patience while we were closed.”

DHEC spokesman Robert Yannity confirmed that it was a voluntary closure.
