Palmetto State Armory held its official Grand Opening on Saturday, September 24th in Summerville’s former Heritage Square shopping center. Doors opened at 10am to several hundred waiting customers who lined up early. Many camped outside the store Friday night to claim prizes promised to patrons who arrived early.
The new sporting goods store occupies more than 30,000 square feet and includes an eighteen lane indoor gun range, a three lane archery range and a fishing outpost. The store is located at the corner of US 78 and Berlin G. Myers Parkway.
Heritage Square sat nearly abandoned for more than a decade. Parts of the plaza were condemned by the Town of Summerville in 2010 and ordered to be demolished. The property was sold to 338 Magnum, LLC in 2013, and news of Palmetto State Armory’s interest in the space began to circulate soon after.
A Spinx gas station and car wash opened at the north corner of the plaza in May of this year. Future additions are to include a Planet Fitness and a Harley Davidson store by the end of 2017.
