Commission meeting at Catholic Diocese
The West Ashley Revitalization Commission meets Tuesday, November 29 at 2 pm at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, 901 Orange Grove Road (former WTMA office site in Parkshore). The 19-member commission will establish rules and 10 subcommittees will be formed.
The commission has been tasked with developing a West Ashley master plan, to include growth planning, infrastructure upgrades, economic development, easing traffic congestion, improving drainage and providing recreational opportunities.
The commission will be chaired by Charleston City Councilman Peter Shahid, who represents a district entirely in West Ashley. Mayor John Tecklenburg and other elected officials and community leaders will serve on the commission. A quorum of at least 10 members is required for issues to be voted upon.
