Two WA Revitalization Commission meetings next week

Two meetings have been set next week for the West Ashley Revitalization Commission (WARC). The Communications subcommittee meeting, originally set for downtown on February 2, has been moved to Mon., Feb. 6 at 1 pm at Bees Landing Recreation Center, 1580 Ashley Gardens Blvd. in the Grand Oaks subdivision. The full WARC will hold its February meeting Wed., Feb. 8 at 5 pm at the Town & Country Inn, 2008 Savannah Hwy.

The Communications subcommittee will meet for the first time Monday. Chaired by Citadel instructor and former TV anchor Maria Aselage, the subcommittee will work on developing a mission statement. The subcommittee is intended to be a voice for West Ashley neighborhoods to provide input for the forthcoming West Ashley Master Plan.

The meeting of the full WARC will include a vote on the policies and procedures recommended by Commissioner Anne Francis Bleeker. Victor Dover from the consulting firm Dover, Kohl and Partners will present and overview of the planning process. City Councilman Peter Shahid, the WARC Chairman, will provide an update to the subcommittee process.

Both meetings are open to the public and will include a public comment period.
