It has been only a few weeks since the Planet Fitness opened in the recently refurbished Collins Square at the corner of US 78 and Berlin G. Myers Parkway in Summerville, and management is already reporting nearly 2,500 new members.

The new facility features 29,000 square feet of signature purple and yellow branded cardio, circuit-training and weight-training equipment. The facility also offers three hydro massage beds, three reclining hydro loungers and a total body enhancement red light chamber.

Certified Personal Trainer Lauren Kyle and others are available to provide group fitness and safety training, and to assist members in designing their own fitness program.

The Summerville club is the fourth in the Lowcountry, with other locations at Northwoods Mall in North Charleston, Citadel Mall in West Ashley and on Long Point Road in Mt Pleasant.

This May, Planet Fitness will open a fifth location. Development is currently underway in Oak Ridge Plaza shopping center at 5060 Dorchester Road in North Charleston.

At a staggering 30,000 square feet, the new club will offer pe@pf (physical education at Planet Fitness) functional training classes and will include some equipment not available at the other four locations.

“[The Oak Ridge location] will let those close to Boeing and the airport enjoy the latest in health and fitness,” says Alexander Choquette, General Manager for Planet Fitness. “And having five clubs will give our Black Card members the opportunity to workout at many different locations.”

Planet Fitness prides itself on providing a high-quality experience at an exceptional value and being home of the Judgement Free Zone, where members experience a hassle-free, non-intimidating environment. Each club also features the brand’s iconic “Lunk Alarm,” a purple and yellow siren on the wall used as a light-hearted reminder that grunting, dropping weights or judging others is not permitted.
