"Twentieth Century Duos"

Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Concertmaster and Principal Pops Conductor Yuriy Bekker will be joined by pianist Andrew Armstrong for a recital celebrating their recently released CD “Twentieth Century Duos” at 7pm on Wednesday, August 31 at Charleston Library Society. Price of admission is $30.

The duo will play selections from the new CD, which includes some of the most beautiful and rarely-performed works of the 20th Century by Erich Korngold and Aaron Copland.

“The idea for this project finally came to fruition with the help of the rare 1686 Ex-Nachez Stradivarius violin,” Bekker says of the album. “This is the first sound recording of this violin, and I believe these particular selections by Korngold and Copland highlight its most magical qualities.”

The CD has been submitted for a Grammy Award and is currently being played on public radio stations throughout the United States and Canada. Autographed copies of the CD will be available for purchase at the reception following the recital.

Charleston Library Society is located 164 King Street, Charleston, SC. Parking is available in the County parking garage at King and Queen Streets.
