For the first time in 45 years, the Dorchester County Schools are not participating in the Sertoma Football Classic and instead are playing in their own Dorchester County Jamboree.  This is a blow to the Sertoma Classic since the Summerville schools draw the biggest crowds.  Here is the the schedule for the Friday, August 21 games at John McKissick Field at Memorial Stadium on South Magnolia Street:

  • Woodland vs. Summerville
  • Woodland vs. Ashley Ridge
  • Ashley Ridge vs. Ft. Dorchester
  • Ft. Dorchester vs. Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — Summerville High School officials say the Dorchester County schools will skip the Sertoma Classic this year, opting to have their own football jamboree instead.

That means Fort Dorchester, Ashley Ridge, Summerville, and Woodland will not be participating in the annual prep football exhibition in downtown Charleston.

Summerville has been part of all 45 Sertoma Classics. Former head coach John McKissick was honored at last year’s Sertoma, the first ever where he wasn’t coaching.
