Famed portrait photographer Gregory Heisler to speak at film and photo conference

film-logoThe South Carolina Film Commission and American Society of Media Photographers are teaming up to host the Southeastern Film & Photo Conference on Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 at Furman University in Greenville, SC. Legendary photographer Gregory Heisler, perhaps best known for his more than 70 cover portraits for Time Magazine, will serve as the keynote speaker.

Heisler has photographed luminaries ranging from Bill Clinton to Bruce Springsteen. His iconic portraits and innovative visual essays have also graced the covers and pages Life, Esquire, Fortune, GQ, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, The New York Times Magazine and many more.

The event’s website promises, “The event [will be] an exciting, professional development opportunity for film, video and photography professionals.”

All activities taking place on Friday are free and open to the public. These include, among other sessions, a three-hour Video Editing Seminar starting at 9:30am with Adobe-certified trainer Clay Asbury and the presentation by Heisler from 3:15pm to 5pm. Purchase is required for Saturday’s activities, which include talks by travel and landscape photographer Elia Locardi, fashion photographer Richard Israel and documentary filmmaker Wade Sellers from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, as well as a live Photoshop demonstration from 2:45pm to 4:45pm with Aaron Nace, host of PHlearn.com and admin of the #1 Photoshop editing channel on YouTube.
