To alleviate overcrowding, the Frances R. Willis SPCA is holding their “Empty the Shelter! Fill Your Heart!” adoption drive Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 at their shelter from 12pm to 5pm. The facility is located at 136 Four Paws Lane in Summerville. The event is sponsored by “No Kill South Carolina,” a program of the Charleston Animal Society.

Adoption fees will be waived for dogs and cats older than one year, with 1/2 off the adoption fees for puppies and kittens—$100 for puppies and $30 for kittens. Please bring vet records if you have other pets and plan to adopt. Dogs currently in foster care are not eligible for this program.

The Frances R. Willis SPCA was established in 1972 to provide a safe haven for stray, abandoned, abused and lost pets. It serves as the no kill shelter for Dorchester County, which includes the cities of Summerville, Rosinville, Harleyville, Ridgeville, Oakbrook, St. George, Summerville, and Grover. It is named for Frances R. Willis, who brought the SPCA to Dorchester County and founded the shelter.
