Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg recently announced the opening of the West Ashley Farmer’s Market Wed., Sept. 14 from 3:30 to 7:30 at Ackerman Park, across from the Post Office at Sycamore Ave. and St. Andrews Blvd.  Tecklenburg expects the weekly event to help revitalize the area, which is adjacent to vacant buildings formerly occupied by Food Lion and Ryan’s Family Steakhouse.

The farmer’s market site was selected based on more than 2800 surveys submitted by West Ashley residents.  It will feature 36 vendors selling local produce, crafts, prepared food, musical entertainment and child-friendly activities.  The market is scheduled to open each Wed. until Oct. 26 this year.  There is plenty of on-site parking available.
