City of Charleston has awarded another contract to clean up West Ashley. It has hired Pleasant Places Landscaping of Mount Pleasant to pick up litter each week along Glenn McConnell Parkway and West Ashley Circle. Southland Landscape Corporation, a North Charleston-based business, was hired in January 2018 to clean up and maintain the Gateway corridor from the Northbridge to the Round Holiday Inn.

West Ashley will be the center of attention a year from now, as Charleston celebrates its 350th anniversary[1]. Charles Towne Landing marks the site where the original settlers founded South Carolina in 1670. A year-long celebration will commence in April 2020. Charles Towne Landing, a state park, will host a lot of cultural events to mark the history of the Charleston area.
