The annual First Day Festival will take place Sunday from 1 to 4 pm outside the South Carolina Aquarium, 340 Concord Street. Parking at the Aquarium and Calhoun Street parking garages will cost $1. The event is sponsored by the Charleston Mayor’s Office for Children and Families.

In addition to distributing school supplies, the festival will provide free snacks, face painting, crafts, games, and an obstacle course. There will also be an African drumming exhibition. Participants will also receive free admission to the South Carolina Aquarium, a $100 value for a family of four. The aquarium includes native fish, birds and invertebrates and focuses on the state’s ecosystems from the mountains of the Upstate to the salt marshes of the Lowcountry. All families are eligible to participate.
