We recently concluded the Globus guided Celtic Highlight Tour in the British Isles. West Ashley travel agent Larry Shirley, who served on Charleston City Council for 20 years, made all of our travel arrangements through his Dream Vacations agency. Globus picked us up and returned us to the Glasgow airport, booked all of our hotel rooms and arranged a thoroughly enjoyable schedule of 23 stops and numerous photo opportunities during the 13-day vacation.

Globus is a full-service bus coach travel company that delivers first class customer service. Our tour guide Rose Mary from Northern Ireland and driver Vincent from Scotland kept the busy tour going on schedule and offered us valuable insight into the destinations in Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. We also enjoyed a one-day visit to England’s Liverpool, where we toured The Beatles Story museum.

Scotland and Ireland have beautiful landscapes and friendly people. There are mountains and hills in view everywhere and grazing cows, sheep and goats dotting the vast grasslands. We visited Medieval castles in the Scottish Highlands, Edinburgh, and Wales. There were also optional excursions to castles in Scotland and Ireland, as well as ones to Taylor’s Irish Caberet and the Guinness Storehouse. Another excursion was at Clava Cairnes, an ancient burial site in the Scottish Highlands featured in the cable TV series Outlander, which has sparked interest in the region and its history.

Our tour included 41 people from the East Coast, Midwest, West Coast and Canada. It included a Florida family with two sets of twins, who added energy and excitement to our cohesive group. The weather throughout the tour was spectacular. The temperatures mostly ranged from 50 to 70 degrees, and there was only sporadic rainfall. Tour guide Rose Mary said we enjoyed the clearest skies in her 30 years in the tour business.

We enjoyed some of the most amazing natural beauty in the world. We took in the sights of amazing seascapes, the Giant’s Causeway with 40,000 volcanic basalt columns, and the Cliffs of Moher, which tower above magnificent Irish beaches. We also got good looks at world class golf courses Lahinch (host of the PGA Irish Open), Royal Portrush (British Open) and Trump Turnbury, owned by President Donald Trump.

All of the Celtic Highlight Tour destinations included great food, friendly people, and breath-taking views. If you enjoy foreign travel, this Globus tour will meet all of your goals.
