Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg announced the creation of the Customer Request Management System call center Tuesday at Charleston City Hall. The system was activated during the July 20 rainstorm to track drainage problems. Charleston citizens may call 843-724-7311 Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm to report problems. Requests may also be made at the http://www.charleston-sc.gov/citizenservices website. The calls and electronic reports will be routed to the appropriate departments.

Citizens may track the status of their request on the website and will receive an e-mail notification when the requested task has been completed. Tecklenburg said in a release, “Our citizens deserve the top quality customer service, and this call center will help us ensure that they’re getting it. Whether reporting a traffic light out, requesting a garbage can, or inquiring about any city service, this one number (and website) is our citizens’ connection to the city.”
