Charleston City Council will take its final vote Tuesday to allow a zoning change for Citadel Mall[1]. The change would allow high-density Planned Unit Development zoning, featuring two 18-story buildings and several other large structures within its existing West Ashley parking lot. The meeting begins at 5 pm at Charleston City Hall, 80 Broad Street. A public comment period will take place before the vote.

The planned development includes a re-branding as the EPIC Center. Plans call for the construction of 1.4 million square feet of office space, 600,000 square feet of retail, 275,000 square feet of medical facilities, and 200,000 square feet for a competitive sports facility. Plans also include 1225 residential units and 500 hotel rooms. There will be parking spaces included in the five planned new structures.
