The following is a letter to the editor from the property owner of the Parker’s Kitchen site at Orange Grove Road and Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Morris Harper. Parker’s Kitchen opened on April 16, after going through a permitting and construction process that began in November 2018.

As the owner of this property, I wish to recognize those who helped with the early effort to inform the community about this proposed development. I commend Parker’s Kitchen for its commitment to incorporate the wants and needs of the neighbors. As a result, Parker’s was enabled to design and construct the attractive development that now stands on this key corner of a major boulevard leading into the West Ashley suburb of the city of Charleston. It is likely the development’s design and exemplary landscaping have established a new standard for remodeling, rebuilding and building anew in West Ashley. I also take my hat off to those who took an interest in the development and attended meetings or otherwise provided input. Specifically, I wish to thank the former owners of Northbridge Exxon, Northbridge Baptist Church, the Lowcountry Source’s John Steinberger, the Monday Night Book Club, broker Aubry Alexander, and architect Dinos Liollio for their early, critical and constant support. I encourage all neighbors of this project and all Lowcountry readers to patronize this Parker’s and to thank them for doing the right thing.
