The Charleston Design Review Board gave preliminary approval Tuesday to the MUSC West Campus[1] out-patient clinic at Citadel Mall in the former JC Penny space. The 127,000 square foot two-story facility will offer about 20 medical services, including primary care, specialty care, out-patient surgery, lab testing and physical therapy. The West Campus clinic is expected to open by the end of 2019.

The facility will have have two patient and visitor entrances, including one with a drive-up canopy. The design includes a new brick facade, expanded window coverage, new landscaping, and expanded tree coverage on the sides of the building.

The MUSC West Campus will give its more than 800 employees and its West Ashley and other suburban patients a convenient location and the advantage of abundant free parking. It is among the several projects involved in the transformation of Citadel Mall.[2]
