City of Charleston and state officials will make a presentation on West Ashley flooding and grants available from FEMA Thursday from 3 pm to 4:30 pm at Bees Landing Recreation Center, 1580 Ashley Gardens Boulevard (inside Grande Oaks subdivision). Read the meeting agenda here[1]. A second presentation will be given at 360 Meeting Street from 6 pm to 8 pm.

Officials from the SC Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and SC Emergency Management Division (EMD) will give an overview on the National Flood Insurance Program and the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program[2], designed to buy homes in locations which experience recurring flooding events.  The updated FEMA flood map will be shown.

City officials will provide an update on the flooding damage sustained during Tropical Storm Irma and prospective upgrades to drainage infrastructure in the Church Creek Drainage Basin.  Unlike the downtown presentation at 6 pm, there is no question and answer period listed on the West Ashley agenda.
