In January, the Charleston County School Board voted to locate all 1250 students from the existing C.E. Williams Middle School and West Ashley Middle School at the new C.E. Williams building on Wildcat Boulevard for the 2020-2021 school year. The building was designed for 900 students. There will be four question and answer sessions next week to discuss the logistics of the merger. A list of Frequently Asked Questions about the merger was posted on the Charleston County School District (CCSD) website today.

Tuesday sessions will be held at West Ashley Middle School (1776 William Kennerty Drive) and the existing C.E. Williams (640 Butte Street). A Wednesday session will be held at Springfield Elementary (2130 Pinehurst) and the last session will be Thursday at Stono Park Elementary (314 Huntley Drive). All question and answer sessions will begin at 5:30 pm. Those unable to attend the sessions may e-mail questions to OneWestAshley@Charleston.k12.sc.us.

CCSD states that the merger will require 10 mobile classrooms in five dual classroom trailers. Some 8th grade students will be able to enroll in classes at West Ashley High School in the morning. Not addressed in the CCSD materials are the planned bell schedule for the new C.E. Williams, where students will go for outdoor physical education classes while the trailers are in place or whether the trailers will be connected to the main building with covered walkways.
