Respondents choose “No Build” option for SC 7 and SC 171 intersection

Charleston County government sent out a news release[1] Monday showing that a majority of the nearly 700 survey respondents preferred the “No Build” option for the proposed SC 7 and SC 171[2] intersection project. Public feedback suggests that the need to maintain access to local businesses and neighborhoods in the area were important factors in the survey outcome. The two designs for the intersection presented by Charleston County transportation officials restricted left turns into nearby shopping centers and the Northbridge Terrace neighborhood. Public comment was closed on June 30.

Charleston County staff will likely come back with proposals to address traffic at the Orange Grove Road and Sam Rittenberg Boulevard intersection and propose bicycle and pedestrian improvements throughout the area. No timetable has been set for the proposed improvements.
