Hundreds of car admirers assembled at the Old Towne Center on Old Towne Road in West Ashley Sunday morning for the inaugural Cars and Coffee event. The event was sponsored by Sojourn Coffee, A &A Insurance, and Custom Car Stereo. More than 50 custom cars were assembled, spilling into the Northbridge Plaza parking lot. Custom Car Stereo is raffling off a window tinting.

The event was the brainchild of A &A Insurance broker Bradley Adams, who is a classic truck owner. It was promoted by flyers at Sojourn, which ordinarily is closed on Sunday, and a Facebook event page. Among the assembled cars were a 2008 Jaguar, a Model A Ford truck, and a Cobra sports car. Many of the cars had the hoods open so that car enthusiasts could admire the engines. People from the surrounding neighborhoods walked to the event.

The event is scheduled to conclude at 10 am today but may carry over longer because of the intense interest. Adams hopes to hold similar events on a regular basis.
