After closing its doors in February due to a corporate bankruptcy, Earth Fare re-opened at its South Windermere Shopping Center location in West Ashley Wednesday. The natural foods supermarket and restaurant originally opened there in 1997. Asheville-based entrepreneur Dennis Hulsing re-opened eight Earth Fare stores and was on-hand for the re-opening. He said, “We are a community-driven store with great food.”

Earth Fare had long been the anchor store at South Windermere Shopping Center. The parking lot had emptied out during the six months of closure. The store is noted for its natural and organic foods and does not offer products with preservatives, hormones or artificial sweeteners. It also has indoor and outdoor serving for its “hot bar”, with a wide variety of meats, fish, soups, and vegetables. It is open daily from 8 am to 9 pm.

Earthfare also did a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the West Ashley Area Chamber. The supermarket includes about 80 employees.
