The West Ashley Chamber of Commerce unveiled its West Ashley Shop Local[1] campaign Wednesday at Hampton Home[2] furnishings store on Ashley River Road. The campaign features a map of West Ashley and the location of 50 participating locally owned businesses.

Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg headlined the campaign kickoff and played Christmas music on the keyboard. Tecklenburg said, “I’m urging all of our residents to shop locally and keep your money in the local economy. Small business generates jobs, keeps our economy strong, and helps create wealth in our community.”

West Ashley Chamber President Karla Mironov said that patrons of the participating businesses may fill out free entries for a Shop Local gift basket with a $250 value. The West Ashley Chamber is a division of the Southeastern Chamber of Commerce[3], which supports small, independently-owned businesses in 13 states and the District of Columbia.
