Despite the rain, the long-anticipated West Ashley Farmer’s Market had a great opening day. Hundreds turned out in the first hour at the Ackerman Park venue.
“It exceeded our wildest expectations,” said Charleston City Councilman Marvin Wagner. He noted that the event was highly promoted on social media, adding to the anticipation.
The event will be held each Wednesday from 3:30 to 7:30 at Ackerman Park, located across Sycamore Avenue from the Post Office, until October 26. The venue includes locally grown produce, prepared foods, hand-crafted goods and live music.
